Description

Under direction of a supervisor at the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf, does tasks involved in the maintenance of grounds; and performs other related work as required.
Additional duties include preparing sites; laying foundations; installing drainage systems; ensuring supporting infrastructure complies with safety standards and project requirements; maintaining outdoor spaces by planting, mowing, trimming, and removing unwanted vegetation; and operating tools and equipment such as mowers, leaf-blowers, and tractors.

Requirements

Experience

One (1) year of experience in the performance of semiskilled grounds keeping work.

License

Appointees may be required to obtain a NJ Certified Pesticide Applicator's or Operator's Permit in the required categories.

Preferred Education/Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in groundskeeping or other relevant experience.

Special Note (MKSD)

Note: Ability to communicate in American Sign Language preferred, or a commitment to learn American Sign Language in two (2) years.
Note: All final candidates must be fingerprinted and bear the $78.38 cost of the criminal history check in order to qualify for employment at the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf.
