Under the direction of a supervisor, performs professional nursing activities pursuant to a school health program within a school district; and performs other related work as required.



Registration as a Professional Nurse in the State of New Jersey.


Possession of a valid certificate as a School Nurse or eligibility for a professional certificate as a School Nurse issued by the New Jersey Department of Education.


 Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.


Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university; current CPR certificate; working knowledge as a school nurse as well as pediatric and adult nursing experience is preferred.

Special Note

Note: Ability to communicate in American Sign Language preferred, or a commitment to learn American Sign Language in two (2) years.


Note: All final candidates must be fingerprinted and bear the $78.38 cost of the criminal history check in order to qualify for employment at the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf.
