Description

Under the direction of the Head of Security, provides assistance and protection to persons and property in and about state-owned and leased buildings, office grounds, and parking areas; Maintains orderly conditions, and takes the measures required to assure observance of the law.
The candidate will be responsible for investigating incidents and writing reports, controlling pedestrian and vehicular traffic, enforcing school and state safety and emergency procedures, conducting fire drills, and assisting first responder teams with emergency situations as needed; and performs other related work as required.

Requirements

Education

Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalent certificate.
License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.

Preferred Education/Experience

One (1) year of experience as a security officer or higher level, preferably in an educational institution.

Special Note

Note: Ability to communicate in American Sign Language preferred, or a commitment to learn American Sign Language. The selected candidate will be required to attend weekly American Sign Language classes until meeting the required Sign Language Proficiency Interview level that correlates with their job description.
All final candidates must be fingerprinted and bear the $78.38 cost of the criminal history check to qualify for employment at the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf.
